Infos about development around Teeworlds, 5 days over 7

Hello tees,

I would like to implement a 0.6-compatible in-game server browser into 4.2, inspiring me from the 0.5 times.

The engine isn’t a problem, 0.6.0 did not bring much changes about the server list rendering, so I should be able to easily take care of that. No, the real task is to find an appropriate place to put the IG Browser tab.

People using resolutions such as 800×600 really have no available place in the in-game menus (the menus that appear when you press ‘Escape’ while playing), the Ghost button is already overlapping the Settings one, so a tab there is out of question. We need to be imaginative.

I thought about something like this:

This ‘Browse’ tab could be on the top left of the screen (yeah, I did not change the label, was too lazy for that). The problem is: the Teeworlds GUI does not allow me to easily (possibly?) do that.

One solution to this issue would be to load an additional icon for this (two icons actually, one when it’s ON, another when it’s OFF), and to render it there. Could be some kind of browsing icon, I’m not thinking to anything special.

What do you think about that?

Dunely Dune.

    Hello πŸ™‚

I could imagine there is no easy way to place smaller button son top for standard actions like “vote” or “info”?
You were able to place submenues, so what about a child at server-info? Replace text with “server” and not as mentioned above with “info”.

Just an idea, without any idea how to possibly do this πŸ™‚

Renaming one or two tabs would not free enough place for another tab, and it would look definitely too chaotic. I need to find something else than just adding tabs there.
